When a local fundraiser needs an extra pair of hands, you won't find the NQ Power Up Electrical team far away.
Recently, our Mackay crew volunteered at a Shave for a Cure event right here in town, one of Australia's most recognised fundraisers in the fight against breast cancer. The boys stepped away from the tools for the day to do what they do best in the community: show up, get stuck in, and make things happen.
What is Shave for a Cure?
Shave for a Cure is a national fundraising initiative that gives everyday Australians the chance to raise money for blood cancer research by shaving or cutting their hair. Events are held in communities across the country, and every dollar raised goes toward finding better treatments and one day, a cure.
For our team, getting involved wasn't a hard decision. Mackay is our home. These are our neighbours, our friends, our customers. When something like this comes to town, we want to be part of it.
What the NQ Power Up Team Did on the Day
Our crew turned up ready to work, helping with event setup, lending a hand wherever it was needed, and making sure the day ran smoothly so the organisers could focus on what mattered most: raising money for an incredible cause.

Our Helping Hands Program
The Shave for a Cure event was part of our ongoing Powering Up Our Community Initiative, specifically our Helping Hands program, which is available exclusively to Mackay organisations, schools, charities and community groups.
Through Helping Hands, the NQ Power Up Electrical team volunteers time and muscle for:
School fetes and sporting club days
Charity fundraisers and community markets
Local events and sausage sizzles
Individual support, helping neighbours with yard work or heavy lifting during tough times
We can help with event setup and pack-down, cooking and serving at stalls, temporary lighting or safe power runs, and general heavy lifting so your volunteers don't burn out before the day is done.
